Event Report, Nankyu Chapter April 2020

A small and dedicated group connected via Zoom, including one person outside of Kumamoto who was interested in digital learning research with Japanese students of English at the ES level. Huy started with a quick basics of creating a meeting on Zoom, in particular how to navigate the interface and settings. Then he led a a short game of Kahoot to demo how it can be used as a learning tool across different devices and areas in the world. He also shared how he uses Gamestolearnenglish.com, Stargall.com, Skype, and Quizlet. Another attendee also shared updated resources from apps4EFL. Then it was a Q and A session in regards to computer literacy in Japan or lack thereof. Huy concluded by explaining how he trains his students, parental concerns, and classroom management.
