ICLE & GILE joint Conference 2023

Event Speaker(s):
Takaaki Mizuno (former war-diplomatic correspondent)
Saturday, September 16, 2023 - 9:30am to 5:00pm

We are happy to announce a face-to-face joint event between the JALT ICLE (Intercultural Communication in Language Education) SIG and the GILE (Global Issues in Language Education) SIG.

Intercultural Awareness and Addressing Global Issues: The Role of the Media in Conflict

More than 110 armed conflicts are currently taking place worldwide, and the media's role in disseminating information is crucial. On a positive note, news, social, and web media can promote cultural appreciation, thereby curbing many existing and potential global issues. We are interested in submissions aimed at developing intercultural appreciation, addressing global issues and the role of media in promoting tolerance and acceptance. Through this conference, we hope to present some of the different practices educators use in order to foster empathetic future leaders.

The conference will have a plenary talk with Takaaki Miyuno, a former war-diplomatic correspondent, parallel sessions and a panel discussion workshop "Developing Intercultural Competence and raising awareness about Global issures in Classrooms".

Plase register yourself as a participant or presenter for the ICLE + GILE joint conference.
