Presentation 1: The E-clinic, an English Language Support Center at Shimane University, Faculty of Medicine, provides various resources to students, hosts lectures and small-group meetings, and is a place for students to relax, study, and socialize. In this presentation, Ms. Murphy will explain about its establishment, and talk about how it has evolved and now prospers as a source of impact for students. She will also provide examples of how the utilization of resources at a language support center can motivate students towards the development of English communication skills, and improve the school environment.
Presentation 2: Have you ever wondered how a homestay and study tour in collaboration with a school outside Japan could benefit your students? In 2010, Shimane University, Faculty of Medicine and Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) School of Health (New Zealand) started a joint homestay and study tour. Every spring Shimane University students enjoy going on this 2-week study tour, studying the NZ medical system, visiting various local tourist sites, and living with friendly NZ host families. Mr. Telloyan will explain how this program started and developed, how we prepare our students, and how it benefits them.
