This is a brief introduction of a method I've developed to help English learners improve their speaking skills. It is based on acting techniques and speech therapy and involves repetition of sounds to strengthen the biomechanics of speech (the tongue, jaw, lips and such). The presentation will discuss the background of the method and then how to work from sound isolation to repetition drills.

This accent modification workshop may be useful for teachers who struggle with helping their students to adjust their English pronunciation, by engaging in coaching scenarios with fellow teachers. The main points that will be covered are: functionability; maintaining motivation; understanding oral anatomy & places of articulation; and goal oriented coaching. The goal for most speakers is to no longer require cuing or correction from their teachers. Therefore we must figure out how to help our students achieve a level of self-correction and generalization of their new skills.
