Title- Special Report on the Pan-SIG, a More Casual Research Conference
Presenter- Eamon Watters
Abstract- JALT Pan-SIG is the yearly conference for JALT's special interest groups. It's a smaller, more relaxed event than JALT National, but has its fair share of interesting talks, presentations, and other events, as well as SIG-Meetings. Additionally, due to the more compact nature of Pan-SIG, it can be held at many more locations than JALT National, and the organisers ensure that the conference travels Japan. This year it was held in Tohoku, at Akita International University - a university famed for it's English immersion philosophy, and located in Akita City's rural hinterland.
This talk will introduce Pan-SIG 2017, highlights of the conference, interesting talks and commentaries from it, and some interesting events at the site.
