Abstract- Although most Japanese college students have already learned all of their basic English grammar through more than 6 six years of English education, many of them cannot use this knowledge communicatively (speaking and writing) and make many simple errors. The attitude of “it is all right as long as it is comprehensible” leads to the consequence that students use quite rough language, which can be hard to understand. On the other hand, simply focusing on grammar lessons is boring and has less of an effect. In this presentation, I will explain the reasons for student errors and how to help them reduce their mistakes without decreasing their communication initiative.
