Event Report, West Tokyo Chapter July 2018

- Private group -

Three speakers were featured in this year's My Share event. Their specific details are as follows.
1. Danh Nguyen of Showa Women's University spoke on how to keep students engaged throughout a lesson. He shared examples from his Vietnamese language classes for police officers and university students.
2. Samiksya Bidari, a public school teacher in Tachikawa, focused on how to deal with "naughty" students and, moreover, how to win them over.
3. Jason Pratt of Toyo Gakuen University shared his research done with Aaron Dods, describing how their study hints at the benefits that breaks in lessons have on long-term retention of vocabulary items. He also shared ideas on the best way to organize break time.

This was a very friendly event filled with mutual support, idea exchange, and lots of humor.

After, a talk was held to discuss what's new in the chapter and to get participants' opinions on the types of events they would like us to host.
