Practicing Pragmatics with Ugly Betty and Coffee chat with a Pragmatics member

In the first presentation Hitomi Abe will share an effective way to raise student pragmatic awareness using an episode of the US television program, Ugly Betty. The second half is an informal coffee chat with Amy Takebe, the assistant director of an intensive English program in Oklahoma (USA), and a doctoral student who is comparing the linguistic features of English and Japanese disaster warnings.
