Hiroshima JALT April Meeting: Engaging Learners, Fostering Communities

Event Speaker(s):
Kie Yamamoto
Jackson Koon Yat Lee
Saturday, April 22, 2023 - 3:00pm to 5:00pm

As we start the new academic year here in Hiroshima, we look for ways to freshen up. This event looks at learning engagement and forming trust with students.

The speakers are Kie Yamamoto and Jackson Koon Yat Lee

The first talk from, Kie Yamamoto, Wayo Women's University, is entitled "Beyond motivation: Ways of engaging language learners." She will talk about how language engagement is something we teachers aim to see throughout our teaching practice. The question is, how can we create an engaging learning environment?

The second talk from, Jackson Koon Yat Lee, Toyo University, is entitled "Forming trusting and respectful relationships with students." Jackson will unravel how the bond students feel between them and their teacher can significantly impact their learning. How should we approach the forming of positive relationships in the classroom?

Saturday, April 22nd, 3-5 p.m, online
