Fukuoka JALT usually holds meetings on Saturday evenings from 6 PM. We have returned to in-person meetings in Tenjin (a central area of Fukuoka City), and we have been experimenting with hybrid options. Our in-person meetings are often followed by an informal social dinner at a nearby restaurant or bar. Everyone is welcome to join our after-meeting socials, whether they came to the meeting or not, and whether they're JALT members or not!
Founded in 1978, our chapter was originally called the Nishinippon Chapter. In 1995, about one third of the members split off to form the Kitakyushu Chapter, and both chapters have remained very active. In 2001, Fukuoka split again to form the Kumamoto Chapter, which remained active about three years. When Kumamoto folded, most of the members returned to the Fukuoka chapter.
