Research and Ethics Committee Structure and Responsibilities

The Research and Ethics Committee shall be responsible for maintaining research ethics and practices within JALT.

  1. Specific responsibilities include:
    1. Establishing and maintaining a statement of ethical norms for research supported by JALT;
    2. Responding to requests for access to JALT data for research purposes;
    3. Establishing and maintaining a review process for research proposals/requests;
    4. Addressing any issues related to ethical practices in research in any publication or direct activities within JALT; and,
    5. Establishing and promoting an annual research focus for the association.
  2. Members of the Committee are:
    1. the Vice President
    2. the Publications Board Chair
    3. the editor of JALT Journal
    4. the editor of The Language Teacher
    5. up to three Members at Large
  3. The Chair will be held by a Member at Large
