小学校から中学校への橋渡しの方法とその可能性 ・日本の小学校教育の中で英語を扱うことは、2011年より日本全国の小学校において5・6年生を対象に英語の授業が必須となるからというだけではなく、 すでに多くの学校において何らかの形で実施されているという点から見ても、現実の案件として存在しています。 ・小学校で行われる英語活動は、中学校以降の英語教育にどのような影響を及ぼすのでしょうか？ ・小学校から中学校への橋渡しということを考えたときに、小学校では何をすべきなのでしょうか？ ・パネリストの皆さんよりそれぞれの考える理想の形を参加者の皆さんにお伝えいただきます。 ・フォーラムは日本語で行なわれます。

(現職) 鹿児島純心女子大学国際人間学部長・教授。宮崎大学名誉教授。
(略歴) 鹿児島県立中央高校教諭,広島大学附属中・高校教諭,鹿児島県立鶴丸高校教諭、鹿児島県教育庁指導主事、文科省教科調査官,宮崎大学教授を経て現職。
(委員等) 文部科学省の委員として，研究開発学校評価委員，SELHi企画評価委員会（座長），『小学校英語活動実践の手引』作成委員会(座長)，中央教育審議会外国語専門会委員等を歴任。

How can the gap between English in elementary schools and junior high schools be bridged? Even though English activities will become compulsory for 5th and 6th years from 2011, it is already being taught in a variety of ways throughout the country? What affect will the introduction of English in elementary schools have on the English taught in junior highs? What can be done in elementary schools to bridge the gap? Our panelists will give their individual opinions on these important issues. The panel discussion will be in Japanese with visual aids in English.
Kageura Osamu is currently dean of the Faculty of International Human Studies at Kagoshima Immaculate Heart University and professor emeritus of Miyazaki University. Previously he has taught at Chūō High School, Hiroshima University Affiliated Junior and Senior High Schools and Tsurumaru High School. He was also a member of Kagoshima Prefectural Board of Education, a curriculum specialist in MEXT and professor at Miyazaki University. Also he has been the MEXT committee member on the Pilot School Assessment Committee and SELHi Planning and Assessment Committee, chairman of the committee responsible for the Practical Handbook for Elementary School English Activities, as well as a member of the Central Council for Education’s Foreign Language Education Committee
