Event Report, Niigata Chapter August 2019

During this workshop, Rab discussed the many different ICT tools and resources that can assist instructors with their courses. One of the more useful tools is shortening URL links using Bitly (http://bit.ly/). At times, URL links can be fairly long and case-sensitive. This resources can not only make it shorter but also can add unique names to the URL link, making it easier for students to navigate through.

Throughout the workshop, Rab stressed the importance of using Google and their plethora of products available for the classroom. Depending on the institution, it may be worth with your IT administrators on available resources. Rab has emphasized that developing a good rapport with your IT staff can be very useful when requesting additional access.

One of the many tools Rab uses in his classroom is the blogging tool from the G-Suite Education resource. His students would blog about various topics and questions and have them respond and critique others. Highly recommended for those that want to introduce their students to English blog writing & introduction to IT skills.
