Environmental Committee

History

The Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT)'s Environmental Committee was informally established in 2013 to raise awareness of environmental issues related to language education and to introduce sustainable practices to JALT conferences. We have been represented by an Environment liaison at several conferences since 2014. At the June 2021 EBM, JALT formally created the Environmental Committee, demonstrating a willingness to create a sustainable organization.

We have provided carbon footprint advice, recycling communication support, and simple on-the-ground presence to help JALT be more green. We have worked with GILE (Global Issues) SIG for several events. However, we need to do more. The committee is looking to grow.

Reach out to us at the email below and let us know your (considered) thoughts on how JALT can improve our eco-awareness and impact. We appreciate your time!
